SQL is Paused or Stopped. The Program Will Now Attempt to Run a Utility - Standalone

The SQL server is paused or stopped, or the SQL server does not exist on the machine.

Verify the SQL Instance is Installed and Running

  1. Access the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager. The Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager will open automatically after clicking OK on the error message.
  2. Click on “SQL Server Services” to display a list of the currently running services.
  3. Verify that SQL Server (GREATLANDYD)* is running.
  4. Right click and select Start if the service is stopped or paused.
  5. Proceed to the next section if the error persists, or the SQL instance does not exist.

*The SQL Server instance will differ depending on the version of the program. Please see the Important Program Directories and File Locations article for more information.

Disable Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Reinstall Yearli

  1. Disable all anti-virus or anti-spyware programs.
  2. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
  3. Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
  6. Reinstall Yearli. Take note of any errors that may occur during the installation.

Verify Administrator Rights and Reinstall

  1. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
  2. Type "compmgmt.msc" without the quotes in the Open field.
  3. Click OK.
  4. In the Computer Management screen, expand Local Users and Groups.
  5. Click on Groups.
  6. In the list on the right double click on Administrators.
  7. Verify that the active user account is listed in the Members section.
  8. Close the Computer Management window.
  9. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
  10. Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
  13. Reinstall Yearli. Take note of any errors that may occur during the installation.

Uninstall the SQL Instance and Re-Install Yearli

  1. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
  2. Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Choose Microsoft SQL Express 2019 from the list of programs.
  5. Choose Uninstall/Change.
  6. Choose the Remove option.
  7. Click OK.
  8. From the Instance to remove features from drop down menu, choose GREATLANDYD*.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Check the box next to Database Engine Services.
  11. Click Next.
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Remove.
  14. Install the Yearli program again.
  15. If any errors appear during the installation, take note of the errors that occur, and contact support.
