The SQL server is paused or stopped, or the SQL server does not exist on the machine.
Verify the SQL Instance is Installed and Running
- Access the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager. The Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager will open automatically after clicking OK on the error message.
- If it does not, or the window is closed, please see the How to Access SQL Server Configuration Manager article.
- Click on “SQL Server Services” to display a list of the currently running services.
- Verify that SQL Server (GREATLANDYD)* is running.
- Right click and select Start if the service is stopped or paused.
- Proceed to the next section if the error persists, or the SQL instance does not exist.
*The SQL Server instance will differ depending on the version of the program. Please see the Important Program Directories and File Locations article for more information.
Disable Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Reinstall Yearli
- Disable all anti-virus or anti-spyware programs.
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
- Reinstall Yearli. Take note of any errors that may occur during the installation.
Verify Administrator Rights and Reinstall
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "compmgmt.msc" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- In the Computer Management screen, expand Local Users and Groups.
- Click on Groups.
- In the list on the right double click on Administrators.
- Verify that the active user account is listed in the Members section.
- Close the Computer Management window.
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
- Reinstall Yearli. Take note of any errors that may occur during the installation.
Uninstall the SQL Instance and Re-Install Yearli
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- Choose Microsoft SQL Express 2019 from the list of programs.
- Choose Uninstall/Change.
- Choose the Remove option.
- Click OK.
- From the Instance to remove features from drop down menu, choose GREATLANDYD*.
- Click Next.
- Check the box next to Database Engine Services.
- Click Next.
- Click Next.
- Click Remove.
- Install the Yearli program again.
- If any errors appear during the installation, take note of the errors that occur, and contact support.
