This message will occur when Yearli is unable to find the database attached to the SQL Server. This usually results from an incomplete installation.
Check for Anti-Virus or Anti-Spam / Run Database Attach Executables
- Determine if anti-virus or anti-spyware software was running during the installation. If they were running, go to the Disable Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Reinstall Yearli section; otherwise proceed to the next step.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli\20XX\* where XX is the year of the software, for the affected version of Yearli.
- Check to see if a folder called Data exists in this directory. If the folder does not exist, go to the next section; otherwise proceed to the next step.
- Run the database attach executable located in the Utilities folder (AttachDB_Yearli_20XX), located at C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli\20XX\*.
- Open Yearli to see if the error persists.

Verify SQL Instance Is Installed and Running
- Access the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager.
- For steps to do this see the How to Access SQL Server Configuration Manager article.
- Click on “SQL Server Services” to display a list of the currently running services.
- Verify that SQL Server (YD2015_SS8E)* is running.
- Right click and select Start if required.
- Proceed to the next section if the error persists.

Disable Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, and Reinstall Yearli
- Disable all anti-virus or anti-spyware programs.
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
- Reinstall Yearli.
Check for Compressed Files/Folders
- Navigate to C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli\20XX\Data*, where XX is the year of the software.
- Right click the .mdf and .ldf files and, for each, select Properties.
- Click Advanced.
- Ensure "Compress contents to save to disk space" and "Encrypt contents to secure data" are not checked.
- This must be done for each affected year of the program.
- Run the database attach executable (AttachDB_Yearli_20XX) located in C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli \20XX\Utilities\*.

Install a New Database
Only take the following steps if there has not be any form data entered for the year of Yearli that is receiving this error. This process will erase all data in the database.
- Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
- Type "appwiz.cpl" without the quotes in the Open field.
- Click OK.
- Uninstall Yearli for the specified tax year.
- Navigate to C:\Program Files or Program Files (x86)\Greatland Corporation\Yearli*.
- Right click on the fold for the affected year of Yearli.
- Choose Rename.
- Rename the folder to "20XX.old" without the quotes, where XX is the year of the software.
- Reinstall Yearli.
