Unexpected Error: Access Denied to Path Errors.xml

User does not have sufficient rights.

Check Privileges

  1. User must have local administrator privileges when running or installing Yearli.
    • To verify account privileges: 
      1. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
      2. Type "compmgmt.msc" without the quotes in the Open field.
      3. Click OK.
      4. In the Computer Management screen, expand Local Users and Groups.
      5. Click on Groups.
      6. In the list on the right double click on Administrators.
      7. Verify that the active user account is listed in the Members section.
  2. Yearli must be installed locally (the hard drive where the program was installed must be physically located on the computer itself, and not on a shared network drive).

Recreate the Errors.xml File

  1. Browse to C:\ProgramData\WinFiler Plus, Yearli Desktop, or Yearli.
    • Hidden files will need to be shown to access the ProgramData folder.
  2. Rename the corresponding year folder, adding the word “old” to the end of the folder name.
  3. Open Yearli again.
  4. Verify a new year folder has been created and a new errors.xml file exists.

Give User Administrator Privileges

Making changes to the Window's registry keys can affect the operating system. It is recommended that you have an IT technician make these changes. It is also highly recommended to create a backup of the Window's registry prior to making any changes to it.

  1. Access the Windows Run window by pressing the Windows key and R key on the keyboard.
  2. Type “regedit” without the quotes in the Open field.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Make the following changes to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Greatland\ and the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Greatland\ Folders:
    • Right click on the folder.
    • Choose Permissions.
    • Make sure the Full Control checkbox is checked under Allow for Administrators and the current User.
  5. Apply changes.
