Update the Yearli Program (2018 - Current)

Apply Yearli Server Updates

When possible, run the server update first to avoid issues with workstation connectivity.

1. Go to the machine that Yearli Server is installed on.
2. Disable any anti-virus or anti-spyware software on the machine.
3. Double click on the Yearli Server 20XX Update Online icon on the Desktop, where XX is the year of the software.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the update process for the server.
5. Open the Yearli Workstation again to apply updates to the Yearli Workstation.

Updating the Yearli Program Automatically

For the network version of Yearli, it is recommended to run the updates on the server computer first to avoid issues with workstations being unable to connect, however they can be updated in any order.

1. Open the Yearli Desktop software. The program will automatically check for available updates.
   • When prompted by the "A program update is available" message, click Yes to update the program.
   • The InstallAware Wizard will verify the contents of the package. If the minimum requirements are not met a message will display listing the incompatible elements. Click OK to end the installation process.
2. If the installation has recommendations on ways to more effectively use Yearli Desktop, a message will display listing the recommendations. Click OK to continue with the installation process.
3. Click Next.
4. Click Next again.
5. Yearli will download and install the necessary program update(s).
6. Once it completes, click Finish.
7. Yearli will open and display a PDF file with the release notes showing what program updates were applied.

Updating the Yearli Program Manually

There may be cases where the automatic update process fails or won't run. This can occur for a variety of reasons, but manually applying the update often gets around these issues.

1. Fully close the Yearli program.
2. Click the start menu.
3. Locate the "Greatland Corporation" folder.
   • On windows 10/11, you may need to click "all apps" or "view all" to see the folder.
4. Within the Greatland Corporation folder, locate the entry "Yearli 20XX Update" where XX is the year you need.
5. Right-click the "Yearli 20XX Update" entry and click "run as administrator".
   • On windows 11, you will need to click "view more".
6. If prompted to allow the program to make changes, click yes.
7. If there is an update available, it will be listed and selected in a popup. Click "install".
   • The InstallAware Wizard will verify the contents of the package.
   • If the minimum requirements are not met a message will display listing the incompatible elements.
   • Click OK to end the installation process.
8. If the installation has recommendations on ways to more effectively use Yearli Desktop, a message will display listing the recommendations. Click OK to continue with the installation process.
9. Click Next.
10. Click Next again.
11. Yearli will download and install the necessary program update(s).
12. Once it completes, click Finish.
13. Yearli will open and display a PDF file with the release notes showing what program updates were applied.
