Cannot connect to data server

Anti-virus software was running during the installation, or an SQL instance for a different program is already installed and has interfered with the Yearli installation process.

Disable anti-virus software, enable protocols, and restart services

  1. Close out of the error message and let the installation finish.
  2. Disable any anti-virus software currently running on the machine.
  3. Access the Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager.  For steps to access the configuration manager see the How do I access SQL Server Configuration Manager? article.
  4. On the left, double click on SQL Server Network Configuration (32bit).
  5. Choose Protocols for YD2015_SS8E*.
  6. Right click on TCP/IP and select Enable.
  7. Right click on Named Pipes and select Enable.
  8. On the left, double click on SQL Native Client 10.0 Configuration (32bit).
  9. Select Client Protocols.
  10. Right click on Named Pipes and select Enable.
  11. Click on SQL Server Services in the left pane.
  12. Right click on SQL Server (YD2015_SS8E)* and select Restart.
  13. Right click on SQL Server Browser and select Restart.
  14. Install Yearli over the top of the existing installation.

*The SQL Server instance will differ depending on the version of the program. The SQL servers associated with each version of the program are: 

  • Winfiler 2012 - 2013: WF_SS8E
  • WinFiler Plus 2013 - 2014: WFP_SS8E
  • Yearli 2014: WFP_SS8E
  • Yearli 2015 - Current: WFP_SS8E or YD2015_SS8E
  • Yearli 2018 - Current: GREATLAND
