Changing company information in QuickBooks
The following error displays when importing from QuickBooks:
"Company Name includes invalid special characters. A company name can contain the following special characters: periods, dashes, or ampersands."
To resolve the error:
- In QuickBooks, click on My Company on the left.
- Click the pencil icon in the Company Information section.
- Verify that the Company Name does not have any special characters. If special characters are present, remove them.
- Click on Legal Information on the left.
- Verify that the Company Name does not have any special characters. If special characters are present, remove them.
- Click OK.
- Attempt to import from QuickBooks.
Entering 1099 TIN in QuickBooks
The following error displays when importing from QuickBooks:
"Missing Vendor TIN for Vendor Name"
To resolve this error:
- In QuickBooks, click on Vendors on the left.
- Locate the vendor indicated in the import error message.
- Double click on the vendor's name in the list of vendors.
- Click Tax Settings.
- Enter a valid TIN, or uncheck the Vendor eligible for 1099 checkbox.
- Click OK.
- Attempt to import from Quickbooks.
Procedure 3 (Editing State ID information in QuickBooks)
The following error displays when importing from QuickBooks:
"Employer's State ID cannot be more than 15 characters long"
To resolve this error, edit the State ID in the Employer State Id Mappings window. This information will not change the data entered in QuickBooks.
To change the State ID in QuickBooks:
- In QuickBooks, click in the Lists menu.
- Choose Payroll Item List.
- Double click the payroll item that contains the invalid Account ID.
- Click Next.
- Verify that the value in the Enter the number that identifies you to agency filed is no longer than 15 characters.
- Click Next.
- Click Next.
- Click Finish.
- Attempt to import from QuickBooks.
